I love selective desaturations! I do them all the time! I think you need to work a little on the borders of the desaturation, I think you have desaturated some parts that belong to the object in color. I'm talking specially on the top right section. I would also enhance a little of the BG contrast. You have a very sharpen strong colored main subject and then a very soft greyish BG. With a bit more contrast on the BG , better desaturation borders it would be nicer!

I like the colours and the object. The desaturation also works IMO. With a little work on composition I think this could be very good.
